repeat as hosts for the 71st gala presented by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

AMY POEHLER
Among the top nominees are: "12 Years A Slave" and "American Hustle," with seven nominations each, including Best Picture in the drama and musical or comedy categories.

For television, "Breaking Bad," "DowntonAbbey" and "Brooklyn 99" are among the top-nominated programs and yes, Dame Maggie is nominated again. Here is what you are waiting to read: Nominee List!
The Screen Actors Guild Awards are January 18. The Producers Guild of America will hold its awards ceremony on January 19, and the Directors Guild will present its annual honors on January 25. The 86th annual Academy Awards® are set for March 2. The Oscar® nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at 5:30 a.m. PT, in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Every year, I caution my readers to remember that the Golden Globes are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, mostly males, not an affiliated Hollywood guild. So, they go for the glitz and glam, the T&A, and they honor their favorite Hollywood personalities whom they want to meet in person, because that prize-winning interview is ever so close on one night of the year.

Therefore, the Golden Globes, which used to be a bellwether* for the Oscars is no longer, but the association makes sure they air an entertaining program for the folks in their home countries. It is also a sparking fun night for the residents of their host country, and I never miss watching them.

Y'all come back now, you hear?
